Sliabh Bawn Wind Farm

In December 2015 Coillte and Bord na Móna agreed terms on a joint venture to develop the Sliabh Bawn wind farm.  In January 2019, Greencoat Renewables PLC joined the board of SBPD as a new shareholder.  The wind farm will continue to be developed in line with the original planning permission granted by Roscommon County Council and An Bórd Pleanála. You can find an overview of the project here.

Sliabh Bawn Power DAC is committed to the development of sustainable energy in Ireland and believe the communities in which we locate our wind farm should be able to experience the benefit in the locality.  Likewise Sliabh Bawn Power DAC has extensive experience in and are committed to  the development of recreational and tourism facilities that can deliver benefits to the local community.

This DAC is fully aligned with the Government’s desire for Coillte and Bord na Móna to work closely in areas of common interest. The project is on Coillte land and was originated and developed by Coillte as part of its commitment to renewable energy and utilising its estate to deliver on Ireland’s renewable energy objectives.

The Sliabh Bawn Community Fund will remain intact, indexed linked and available each year over the 25 year lifetime of the wind farm to benefit local community projects and initiatives.

Sliabh Bawn Story

Throughout the project we captured its progress on film and have now produced a short film telling the story of the wind farm.
