Amenities Notice

In line with recent Government guidelines, our trails remains open for people living within 5km of our wind farm to take brief physical exercise.  While using the trails at Sliabh Bawn Wind Farm, please follow all instructions and be mindful of social distancing protocols requiring you to stay at least 2 metres apart from other visitors.

Want to run an event at Sliabh Bawn?

Individuals can access Sliabh Bawn’s fantastic recreation facilities at any time, without the need for a permit.

However for group activities, you will need a permit (including any walking/ cycling groups or events). For all the details, click here.

To apply for your permit, contact us at sliabh.bawn@coillte.ie or 1890 927 836 for a form, then complete and return it to us (Your event must be at least 4 weeks from now).

Sliabh Bawn Power DAC Ros Run

The Sliabh Bawn summit was a busy place during the Sliabh Bawn Power DAC Ros Run on July 28th.  More than 450 runners, from across the country, took on the challenging courses in the 10km, half marathon, full marathon and 50km ultra marathon races.  Supporters lined the 28km trails to cheer friends and family as they stormed past on one of the cooler days of the July heatwave.  Plans are under for the 2019 event which promises to be bigger and better again!

Sliabh Bawn Power DAC proudly sponsors the Ros Run – Sliabh Bawn Ultra marathon, Full marathon, Half Marathon and 10km Event.

28th &  29th July 2018

Sliabh Bawn Power DAC are delighted to be main sponsors of the Ros Run which is an off-road running endurance event on compact gravel tracks on Sliabh Bawn windfarm over 2 days, the 28 th & 29 th of July. Participants have the option to sign up for a single day of running or a back to back race (running 2 days, one after the other). There are four different distances, 50km, Full marathon (42.2km), half marathon (21.1km) and a 10km. These distances will be on a looped course on Sliabh Bawn mountain. The routes are challenging and participants are asked to register for the route most suited to their training, ability and experience. People can progress and train for the longer routes year after year as a goal to help to keep them active throughout the year.

Online registration is now closed with 420 participants officially registered. However, people can still register on the day and this is expected to take the numbers up to 450 – 480.

Sliabh Bawn Recreation Launch

On Saturday 2nd September over 500 members of the local community gathered at Sliabh Bawn for the official opening of the Sliabh Bawn recreational facilities.  The new amenities include a trim trail for fitness, an equestrian trail, six looped walks, a raised viewing platform and a new picnic area. The amenities were developed as part of the Sliabh Bawn wind farm and represent a 500K investment by Sliabh Bawn Power a joint venture between Coillte and Bord na Mona.
